WHY BODY DONATION MAY NOT BE AN OPTION FOR YOU!
YES!!! BODY DONATION!!!
Every state and school has a list of requirements in order to be accepted into their body donation program. If you do not fit the bill, your body will not be accepted. Therefore, you MUST have an alternative plan. Final expense or burial insurance can be an option for you. These are small policies from $2,000.00 to $50,000.00 to cover the cost of a funeral or cremation. Please do not be a financial burden on those who love you. Let's be real!!!! Financial struggle can cause divorce, physical fights and murder. 🤔 everyone knows somebody they loaned money to and never got it back...and vowed revenge😡...
JUST IN CASE NONE OF THAT MATTERS 🤷 HERE ARE SOME REASON YOUR BODY WILL GET REJECTED FOR BODY DONATION. **note** this is for the state of Virginia, but it is pretty much the same across the board.
The following conditions would make a body unacceptable for donation to VSAP:
Severe Obesity – referring to an individual whose Body Mass Index is greater than 28-30% (dependent upon body structure)
Infectious or contagious diseases such as C-Diff, MRSA, VRE, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B or C, syphilis, or any prion diseases
Jaundice if related to a contagious disease such as hepatitis B or C
The body has been autopsied, mutilated or decomposed
Removal of organs and tissues after death for transplant
Stage 3 or above decubitus ulcers or infected wounds
Donors who are not refrigerated within 4 hours of death.
