Our trusted friends at SERVPRO of Cape May & Cumberland Counties shared these essential Do’s and Don’ts to keep your family and property safe:

✅ WHAT TO DO:
- Limit movement: Keep walking to a minimum to prevent soot from embedding into carpets and upholstery.
- Protect walkways: Place clean towels or old linens on high-traffic rug and carpet areas.
- Prep appliances: If the electricity is off, empty your freezer and fridge, and prop the doors open.
- Filter the air: Change your HVAC filter and tape a double layer of cheesecloth over air registers.

❌ WHAT NOT TO DO:
- Don't wash walls: Avoid washing painted surfaces, carpets, or upholstery yourself—improper cleaning can lock the damage in.
- Don't touch wet fixtures: Never turn on ceiling fixtures if the ceiling is wet, as the wiring could be damaged.
- Don't risk the food: Throw away any canned or packaged food/drinks that were near the heat or smoke.
- Don't use regular dry cleaners: Ordinary dry cleaning can permanently set smoke odors into your clothes.

The South Jersey Preservation Cattlemen’s Advisory Commission is working to grow ranching in South Jersey. After months of meetings, research, and working with industry experts, we are getting close to a solution, but we need your help before we move forward. Before we finalize any action plan, we need to better understand the current state of beef and cattle production in South Jersey.

If you raise cattle for beef, or if you are interested in becoming a rancher, please fill out this survey as soon as possible. The survey will only be open for the next two weeks. Once we collect the data, we will move ahead with the right planning and next steps. South Jersey includes Salem, Gloucester, Cumberland, Camden, Cape May, Atlantic, Ocean, and Burlington counties.
