As a Medicare beneficiary, you have come to realize that Medicare changes every year.
Premiums, deductibles, and benefits can change to your existing Medicare plan.
Your Medicare plan will send out an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) Letter sometime at the end of September every year.
As soon as you receive your ANOC letter, review it thoroughly!
Make sure you can afford the changes in costs and that the benefits still meet your health care needs.
Most importantly, look at the medications that you take and make sure they are still covered and if they have moved from one tier to another, as this will affect your copays.
This is an area that most beneficiaries will neglect and find a plan that doesnโt meet their needs.
Changes can be made from October 15th - December 7th, with an effective date of January 1st of the following year.
Some questions you should ask when reviewing your ANOC letter:
* Does the plan for next year still cover your medications?
* Are there any coverage restrictions for medications, such as quantity limits or prior authorizations?
* How much will you pay for generic and brand name drugs?
* Has the monthly premium changed?
* Has the Part D drug deductible increased?
* Has any Medicare-covered service benefit changed or removed?
* Has the maximum out-of-pocket increased?
* Have the copays for Medicare-covered service benefits changed, and can you afford them?
Review your ANOC and let me know if I can help!
Thanks!
