There are some closings that are extra special because the people behind them have been part of your life for years… and BOTH of these fall right into that category. I’ve known these families for about 20 years, watched kids grow up, helped siblings, and now here we are doing mortgages together. Full-circle moments are the best. 🥹🏡

🏠 William & Suzanna Duke
The Dukes are building a brand-new home, and I could not be happier for them! They are working with Benchmark, with Melanie Diebold helping them through the building process.
And let me tell you… Suzanna may not be on the loan, but she is absolutely the CEO of getting-all-the-things-done. 😂 She has been on top of every detail!
I’ve known the Duke family for 20 years, I’ve done a loan for William’s sister, and I just love ALL the Dukes. Getting to help William and Suzanna with this next chapter makes this one extra sweet. ❤️

🏡 Andy Michaelis
This one is another true full-circle closing. Andy is purchasing his parents’ home from his siblings, and we were able to put together a plan using the equity he already owns in the property to make it all work.
I’ve known Andy for about 20 years too. His kids grew up alongside mine, so helping him with something this meaningful feels a little different than just “another mortgage.”
Sometimes a closing is about numbers, appraisals and paperwork…but sometimes it is really about family, history, and home. ❤️

These two are definitely BIG LOVE closings for me. Congratulations to the Dukes and Andy — I am so thankful I got to be part of both of these stories! 🐺🏡

🌴 The Lade Family
Randy and Kelly Lade came down from Missouri and found their happy place in Lost Key Townhomes in Perdido Key! They purchased this one as a second home, so now they officially have a place to escape to when the beach starts calling their name. And we all know…it calls pretty loudly. 😂🌊

This closing was all about a fresh start for Kam. We helped her complete a cash-out refinance on her Tuscaloosa home, giving her a way to use the equity she has built to take care of what she needed and move into her next chapter.

After renting on Fort Morgan Road for eight years, Billie and Trent are officially homeowners! They found their new home in Crimson Ridge in Gulf Shores, and I am so excited for them to finally have a place that is truly their own. Eight years of renting deserves a very big “WELCOME HOME!” 🎉

🌴 Wad & Paula Stevens
Wad and Paula already knew they loved living in Cypress Village in Orange Beach—they just needed a different house in the same neighborhood! When you love the neighborhood but find another home that fits you even better, you do not leave…you simply relocate down the street. 😄
Their move also involved coordinating the sale of their Opelika home with the purchase of the new one, which always comes with a few extra moving pieces. Thankfully, they had a great team helping everything fall into place!

NYC unboxing from the sweetest people at Diamond Jewelers. 💎 They have been part of every big moment in my life—the celebrations, the sparkle, all of it—and somehow they found a way to bring a little piece of home to my tiny NYC apartment while I’m here at MSK.
I almost made it through the whole unboxing without crying… almost. Then the tears got me at the end. So yes, I’m officially mad at y’all for making me cry. LOL.
I’ll come tell you the butterfly story when I get home. I love you guys so much. And honestly, if you’re using another jewelry store, I may need to come find you and lovingly punch you in the face—because nobody cares more about their customers and this community than Diamond Jewelers. 💙

Diamond Jewelers sent me the SWEETEST, most amazing gift basket… and I may have teared up a little because they are just the best humans ever. Seriously, if you’re buying jewelry anywhere else, I might have to find you and lovingly punch you in the face. 😂

Then I ran to the grocery store in my new hat and had a very important question…
Did they send this hat for Jeff—since he has to drag me to all the appointments, make emergency Insomnia Cookies runs, find a slice of pizza, and handle whatever random whim I have that day?

The Clarks are officially making the move from Gurley to Orange Beach, and this home is just one part of a much bigger plan. It will be the perfect place to live while he transitions to the coast and prepares to build his future dream home. I already cannot wait to see it all come together!
And let’s talk about Monica Covington with RE/MAX Paradise, because she has been doing some serious juggling on this one! Monica handled both sides of this transaction, helped Ben find the lot for his future home, assisted with coordinating the construction plans, and helped secure the home he will live in during the transition.
That is land, construction, a home sale, a home purchase, and a move to the coast—all happening at once! Monica handled every moving piece with so much patience, care, and grace. She truly went above and beyond to help make Ben’s bigger vision possible, and we are so thankful to have worked alongside her.

✨ Two more happy closings—and two completely different paths to the closing table! One involved a fresh start, future income, and a little extra underwriting creativity. The other involved a Beach Club condo and a closing timeline that definitely kept us on our toes! 😅
🐾🏡 Congratulations, Beth Porter!
Beth is making the move from Tennessee to Gulf Shores and starting a new position with Shear D’Tails. Because her income will begin after her move, we used her new-hire letter to build the loan around her future income. Beth did not have a traditional credit score, but she had alternate credit history and a strong 20% down payment—proof that not having a credit score does not always mean homeownership is off the table!

We stopped at CAMP in NYC, where Eloise got to meet Bluey and explore her whole house. Meanwhile, I went to two doctors offices that day 🤣 I borrowed Bandit’s office for a few minutes to get some work done from my phone while she played. Honestly, that blue heeler has a pretty solid workspace. 🐾💙

This one was truly a family affair! Carl, Dean, Sallyann, Travis and Jennifer have vacationed at Casa Del Sol for years, so when the opportunity came to purchase Unit C-1, they knew it was meant to be.
There were plenty of moving parts behind the scenes, but this family stayed focused on the goal: owning a piece of a place they already loved and where they had made so many memories. We are so excited to see them turn this longtime vacation favorite into their very own investment property!

Dawn recently purchased a condo at Sugar Beach using funds from an investment account, but she had only 60 days to put that money back—or face a hefty tax bill and penalties. Realtor Lanny Brown knew Barr Group Mortgage would dig in and find a solution, and that is exactly what we did!
