Service Contracts

Service Contracts with Autorenew Clause. Many companies use service contracts to help their customers maintain a peice of equipment like a dump truck or possibly a home generator for personal use. Most of the time this is a win win situation...but what if your provider is not providing you the service they promised?

Well...In the Florida 2022-2023 session service contracts came under fire and new regulations were implemented . you can find the full bill online but essentially your vendor has to do the following:

Notify you within 60 but not less than 30 days before an automatically renewable contract comes up. This must disclose that

it is an automatically renewable contract
Contact information if you do not want to renew and how to cancel it.

A plain invoice will not do the trick. So you may want to ask your potential vendor about the following in the event you want to cancel after the effective date.

Some companies will just keep sending bills.
Some companies will add late fees
Some companies will send certified letters if you don't comply

So if you got a renewal and don't want to pay it you should contact your vendor as quickly as possible to make arrangements to cancel the policy. Before cancelling anything you will want to take into consideration the possible financial ramifications of not having the coverage of course.
