Signup for 2026 ARC and PLC elections runs through December 11th, so there's time to get it right. Whether ARC-County, ARC-Individual or Price Loss Coverage makes the most sense depends a lot on your numbers, and right now you're out there finding out what those numbers are. Once the combine's parked and you know where your yields landed, that's the time to compare your options.

If you carry PRF on grazing acres, hang on to your stocking rate documentation. Starting in 2027, you'll need to keep those records for three years after the crop year ends. A folder in the truck or a photo on your phone works fine, just don't toss the paperwork.

Today is National Farmers Day, and around here that's basically every day, but we'll take the excuse to say thank you. Quick note: FSA offices are closed today for the federal holiday. If ARC/PLC is on your list, today's a good day to pull up your yield records and see how this year's harvest is shaping up before you sit down to make a choice.

Never carried PRF before? We can pull rainfall data for your area going back to the 1950s and show you how often coverage would have paid out in recent years. That's a lot more useful than guessing, and it doesn't cost you anything to look.

Record news for area farmers. USDA is paying out $13.8 billion in ARC and PLC payments for the 2025 crop year, and payments are starting to roll out now.

For 2025, you automatically get the higher of your ARC-CO or PLC rate. PLC rates came in at Wheat $1.29/bu, Corn $0.26/bu and Soybeans $0.21/bu.

Our Harvest Box Fundraiser helps incoming FFA members get their FFA jackets. Each meal is $15 per box!

Friday, October 23:
🍴 Lunch — Goulash
🍴 Dinner — Hot ham & cheese

Saturday, October 24:
🍴 Lunch — Pulled pork sandwiches
🍴 Dinner — Pork loin sandwich

Each meal includes chips, salad, a bar or cookie, and water!

Delivery windows:
• Lunch: 11 AM–12:30 PM
• Late lunch: 12:30–2 PM
• Dinner: 4:30–6 PM

Delivery is available directly to your field/combine or the Agtegra Aberdeen or Andover elevator probe line. Pickup is also available at the High School Ag Room.

Every bushel going through the combine right now is helping build next year's coverage. Your APH is only as good as the yield records behind it, so if your monitor's calibrated and your load tickets are getting saved, you're already doing the important part. Not sure what we need for our files? Ask before the combine gets parked for the season.

Here's one most people won't see coming: NOAA is changing the rainfall data behind PRF starting with the 2027 crop year, moving from the old CPC dataset to a newer one called NCEI. Same land, same grid, same two-month intervals, but the historical numbers behind them can look different under the new data. If your interval selections have worked well in the past, that's not a reason to lock them in again for 2027 without a second look. Let's run your grid through the new data together before you make your selections.
