Important reminders from Kansas Wheat! 🌾

Proposed volunteer control windows across Kansas aim to reduce wheat streak mosaic risk. These windows span the 30 days before the optimal winter wheat planting date in each region. 🌾⁠

Here are key considerations for successful wheat-free windows:⁠

🟡Terminate all volunteer wheat so it’s completely dead before your regional window begins.⁠

🟡Delay fall wheat planting until the end of the window, if possible.⁠

🟡Avoid planting other winter cereals (like rye or triticale) during this time, as they can carry curl mites.⁠

🟡A regional break in the green bridge helps curl mites die off before wheat planting.⁠

🟡Volunteer wheat emerging after the window is less concerning, as it aligns with winter wheat establishment.⁠

🟡Community-wide coordination is essential for success.⁠

🌾 The Annual Forage Insurance enrollment period ends TOMORROW (July 15) for the 2027 Crop year!

It's the last full week to report spring-planted acres for the 2026 Crop Year! Reminder in order to stay in compliance, all acres must be certified at FSA & reported to Crop Insurance by next Wednesday, July 15th.

If you're finished with wheat harvest, we're also ready for harvest yields so adjusters can begin finalizing any wheat claims. Please reach out with any questions!

USDA/RMA has officially released the 2025 Crop Year Final Area Yields and County Revenue Values for ECO & SCO coverage.

Final values by county, crop, practice & type are now available for review in the Actuarial Information Browser.

FSA is expanding payment limitation and payment eligibility provisions that affect program payments including allowing for the equitable treatment of qualified pass-through entities, resulting in additional payment limits for those entities. This change allows producers to structure their farm entities to benefit from the legal protections of certain business structures without limiting their access to the farm safety net.

Updated farm operating plans must be on file with FSA by Sept. 15, 2026, for program year 2026.

Friendly reminder on final planting dates for Milo and Soybeans as we move through June! There is a 1% guarantee reduction in coverage each day acres are planted after the final planting date.

FSA is strengthening the farm safety net thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act that adds up to 30 million new base acres nationwide. Starting June 1, landowners can update and increase base acres in preparation for enrollment in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2026 and future crop years.

As planting season is now in full swing across most of the area, here’s your reminder on final planting dates by crop, county & practice type to maintain full MPCI coverage for 2026!

For each day planted after the final planting date, coverage will be reduced 1% per day during the late planting period.

Reminder on the biggest change for our area - RMA has extended the final planting date for corn to June 5th (From May 31st) with the late planting period now ending June 25th.
