The inequality of auto insurance in South Carolina. In South Carolina all people who drive on the roads are required to purchase auto insurance. That is a good thing for all who drive. The problem is that all people do not pay the same price for that liability. In South Carolina people are charged higher rates for auto liability insurance if they have a low credit score. In other words, people who have financial difficulties are charged higher for car insurance, that they are required to purchase in order to put a car on the road, and the wealthy, with their great credit score get huge discounts. This is wrong! Those with poor financial circumstances are forced to pay more so that the wealthy with their great financial circumstances can pay less. Let that sink in. I think age and driving record should be the only criteria to cause a difference in the cost of basic auto insurance in South Carolina, not one’s financial status.

If a vehicle is registered in your name, you are responsible for any damages done by that vehicle. An insurance policy moves a limited part of the risk from you to an insurance company, but you are responsible for any damages that vehicle may do. If the vehicle has a tag, you are responsible to the State to keep that vehicle insured.
