Drainage matters! After heavy rains, be sure to check your crawlspace, attic, and areas where downspouts drain. If water is pooling in areas, be sure to take care of it now before you have an issue. Here are some tips:
💧Use rocks to help absorb and redirect water in heavily pooling areas.
💧If water is found in a crawlspace, contact a professional to assess area and install sump pump or other measures to keep area dry.
💧Ensure gutters are clear and draining water away from house and downhill when possible.

If my fence is damaged in a storm, will insurance cover it?

Typically, fences are part of covered structures and in many instances, are covered up to 10% of your home's coverage limit. Some things to think about before filing a claim:

🌳 Your deductible. If only a portion of your fence was damaged, your deductible may be higher than the repair cost.
🌳 If damaged by a tree fallen due to negligence on your part of proper tree care, your insurance may review it.
🌳 If your neighbor's tree fell on it, it may depend whose insurance covers it.
