Last week, I had the absolute thrill of attending the 'Best of Washington County' celebration as a nominee.

What an honor. Truly.

I love this place so much- the people, the businesses, the sense of community- and I feel that love right back every day in the work we do. Looking around the room, I was in awe of the many creative, ambitious business owners who filled the space.

To all the nominees, congratulations!

A special thank you to NYVT Media for bringing this event together, and to Lakota Farm for such a stunning venue and beautiful atmosphere.

You only retire once.
The decisions are big — and there’s no real “re do.”

For me, this season of life is nothing new.

Over the course of my career, I’ve guided hundreds of people through this exact transition — helping them shift from building their wealth to living off what they’ve built.

I’ve seen what works.
I’ve seen what creates stress.
And I understand which decisions make the biggest difference over time.

That experience matters.

Because planning at this stage isn’t just about investments. It’s about taxes, risks, protection, and making sure all of the moving pieces work together in a way that reflects your values and your goals.

This is the work that truly lights me up, and it’s a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they navigate these years.

The people we work with didn’t get here overnight.

They built something—a career, a business, a life—that has led to a high net worth.

And at this stage, the questions start to change.

> How will our assets support our lifestyle?

> What happens if one of us isn’t here—who will manage all of it moving forward?

> How do we protect what we’ve built and the people we love?

> How do we minimize taxes?

> How should we transfer wealth to the next generation?

Those questions are personal.

They’re complex.

And they don’t have standard answers.

That’s where we come in.

We get to know you—your life, your goals, your concerns—and guide you through everything underneath: taxes, risk, protection, and legacy. Because all of those moving pieces are connected.

We coordinate the right professionals on your behalf—attorneys, tax advisors, and other specialists—so nothing falls through the cracks.

At this stage, planning isn’t just about the numbers. It’s about navigating complexity with intention—and having an advisor who knows you, cares deeply about your unique situation, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to help ensure that what you’ve built is protected.

Ted Jones, Edward Jones' son, famously said, "Money has never been my God".

It's interesting to work in the financial industry and know- deep down- that the word rich has very little to do with money.

That idea is part of the philosophy of our founders here at Edward Jones.

And it's a pattern I see over and over again with my clients.

The real richness?
That shows up in their stories.

It's in the fund they set up to help a niece through dental school.
The home they keep so friends and family always have a place to be together.
The freedom to spend their time how they choose.
The way they light up- really light up- when they talk about their grandchildren.

That's where wealth lives.

Most of us are richer than we think.
We just move too fast to notice.

My wish for you is that money is never your God.

That it stays what it was always meant to be: a tool.

A tool that buys you time with the people you love.

And room to enjoy life's real riches.

I’m honored to be speaking at this incredible event hosted by the Dairy Girl Network.

DGN creates opportunities for women across the dairy industry to grow—both personally and professionally—and that speaks straight to my core. My admiration for this industry, the connection I feel to the women within it, my desire to give back my expertise, and my deep appreciation for personal growth all come together here.

I can’t wait to be there to talk about retirement and share insights into the unique challenges and opportunities that come with this stage of life—especially for those rooted in agriculture.

If you’re part of the dairy world, I'd invite you to join us. Looking forward to a great conversation.💙🐄

You’ve taken your work home more times than anyone knows.

You’ve been with your company for 30 years — leading teams, carrying responsibility, being the one others rely on when decisions matter.

Calls and meetings fill your calendar.

But this call is different. It’s a sigh of relief.

When we connect, I greet you by name.
I know your career.
Your family.

I remember the conversations we’ve already had —
your daughter’s wedding this summer,
your growing responsibility to care for your parents as they age,
and that date on your calendar you’ve circled as retirement.

You don’t have to explain who you are or how you got here.
You don’t have to start from the beginning.

I understand the pressure you’ve carried.
The people who have relied on you.

The way responsibility doesn’t always clock out when you do.

Our conversation doesn’t start with numbers.
It starts with, “How are things going?”

Because real planning is built over time — through steady conversations that go deeper than spreadsheets and projections.

It’s understanding what matters to you before decisions need to be made.

You’ve spent your life showing up for your family, your colleagues, your organization.
You’ve been dependable. Consistent. Steady.

At this stage, you deserve the same in return.

That’s what it feels like to be known.
And once you experience it, you don’t go back.

When I ask couples what they’re most proud of, the answer is rarely financial.

It’s their 30‑plus‑year marriage.

They built everything together.

Every meal.

Every milestone.

Every dollar saved.

Every hard season navigated side by side.

They relied on one another. They grew together. They built a life as true partners.

And then we have the conversation no one wants to have.
One of you will go first.

Will the other be protected? Their home? Their healthcare? Their day‑to‑day living?
The gifts you hope to leave your children one day?

It will be one of the most difficult seasons of that person’s life.

Planning doesn’t make it less emotional.
But it does make it less uncertain.

My role isn’t just to build an investment strategy.
It’s to build a protection plan strong enough to carry one spouse safely through that chapter.

When the time comes, I’ll be one of the calls.

And it’s my job to carry out the plan we built together — to ensure stability, protect dignity, and stand steady in the years ahead.

That’s what real planning is.
