Stopped by M. Judson's Booksellers this morning for coffee and spotted something worth sharing. Greenville made the list of 150 bookstores in the world you must see.

That kind of recognition doesn't surprise me. This city has a way of showing up on lists like that because the people here invest in it.

I grew up knowing about Greenville, left for a while, and decided to come back and put down roots here. That decision gets easier to feel good about every time I walk through downtown.

If you're building your life here too, I'd love to connect.

A few weeks ago I sat in a presentation where someone mentioned their hospital store sells 6.5 candy bars per day.

I remembered that detail. I couldn't tell you the operating budget off the top of my head, but I remember the candy bars.

One detail that connects to everyday life can make the rest of the conversation stick.

What do you use to make it memorable?

Most weeks, life moves faster than our plans do. What goals have you hit this year!?

Research on goal achievement is clear: accountability and written commitments are what move people forward. A weekly habit of checking in with your goals is that accountability structure. A former co-worker shared a weekly check-in ritual when I first started.

Check in with yourself across these five areas, in no particular order:

→ Family
→ Friends
→ Faith
→ Finances
→ Fitness

You’re building your goals, your career, your future, and the last thing on your mind is something slowing or stopping it completely.

I spend a lot of my time with engineers and operations leaders who've built their whole career on planning for failure modes.

Same instinct applies here. What's your income buffer if you're out for three months? Six? A year?

Does it come from base salary only, or does it cover what you actually make?

Questions, message me to learn more!

After you review your mortgage, daycare, groceries, and gas, most families never ask what happens if the income stops for six months.

Most people think they are completely covered by workplace benefits.

DM me 'GAP' and I'll walk you through a plan.

I walked into an office I've been going to for 7 years and didn't recognize a single face.

Change is always happening around us. We only act when we notice it or try to control it.

This morning, I was walking into my dental office for the first time in 7 years since I moved to Greenville. I noticed new staff, a new hygienist, and a new dentist.

This did not bother me in the moment, but it did hours after my appointment. Something changed, and I wasn't aware of it until I had it right in front of me.

My service, cost, or quality did not change.

My experience and expectations were set in the past.

Has something in your life or business changed and you didn't catch it until it was already done? What did you do about it?

Most people try to figure out their finances after something changes: a new baby, a job shift, a health scare.

Building a plan before those moments, with someone who can walk through it with you, is always more useful than trying to piece it together under pressure.

It doesn't matter where you're starting from. Starting with the right guide makes all the difference.

Grateful to be recognized at the Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Breakfast last week.

Showing up for the builds, the planning meetings, and building awareness of our impact. Consistency is key in financial reviews and in service. Great things happen over time, not just in a single moment.

Thank you to Greenville Habitat for Humanity for recognizing the Young Professionals group and the community you've built, and we look forward to many more builds.

Where can I meet a DJ, a flooring supply owner, a children's non-profit leader, a general contractor, and a local ministry serving the community? Sounds like a great party to me. Check out Greer First Fridays!

We also got an excellent and engaging presentation on the future of the Pelham Medical Center by Tony Kouskolekas. He shared information about how they are using technology to improve orthopedic surgery and make charting time more efficient and accurate at their facility.

Check out networking opportunities with the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce!
