With temperatures on the rise, staying cool and taking breaks is crucial.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁:

1) Stay hydrated. Drink water, even if you think you’re not thirsty. Avoid very cold drinks because they can cause cramps.

2) Spend time in air-conditioned places or fans at home.

3) Dress in lightweight, loose clothes. Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen outdoors.

4) Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest hours. Rest in cool spots when outside.

5) Look out for vulnerable groups like the elderly and children. And NEVER leave pets in vehicles (cars reach oven temperature quickly).

6) Know the signs of heat illness such as headaches and rapid heartbeat. Seek medical help if you believe you’re suffering from it.

7) Draw curtains to keep your home cooler by blocking the sun.

We use language to communicate every day without a second thought. But for people with aphasia, this basic ability is gone. Aphasia robs individuals of what makes us human... our power of communication.

Surprisingly, this affects over 2 million Americans, yet 84.5% have never heard of it.

For Aphasia Awareness Month, we’re using our voices for those who have lost theirs. You can help by spreading awareness online using the hashtags , , and in your posts. And by supporting organizations like the National Aphasia Association.
