Robinette's Apple Haus & Winery in Grand Rapids, Michigan recently announced their 2026 corn maze would celebrate beloved country music icon and childhood literacy activist, Dolly Parton.

Tragically, Dolly Parton passed away at age 80 on August 25, 2026.

Fans may find visiting the corn maze a unique way to honor her legacy. A portion of each ticket sale will support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of West Michigan, Early Bird Books.

The goodness in this world has been reduced by way more than just one human being today.
Tens of thousands of us all need to do much better and much more to even come close to offsetting the loss of this shining example of what we used to be more like in this country.
I need to. I already should have. Today I recommit. Today I put it into action. Today I need to remind myself of this every day I have left. Today I shed tears I haven't shed in years for almost anything. Some are for Dolly. Some are for the shame I feel realizing I haven't been living anywhere near enough to the example of Dolly. God take me if I cannot do better.

God bless you and rest in eternal well-deserved peace miss Dolly.

I just loved you so Dolly. We lost a bright light today. 😭

You didn’t need Dad to yell. You just needed to hear that one tiny change in his voice.

Every kid knew it.

The first time Dad called your name, you might keep doing whatever you were doing.

The second time had a little more weight behind it.

But then came the voice.

Suddenly, whatever you were doing became the least important thing in the world.

You could be halfway upstairs, buried in a bedroom, playing outside, or pretending you somehow hadn't heard him the first two times. The second that tone changed, your entire nervous system received the message.

Dad wasn't asking anymore.

And somehow, we became Olympic-level listeners.

There were no thirteen reminders.

No lengthy negotiations.

No countdown from five that mysteriously restarted three times.

You heard your full name come out with a slightly different tone and immediately started calculating how much trouble you were already in.

And the walk toward Dad was always the longest walk of your life.

You'd replay the entire day in your head trying to figure out what he knew.

Was it the broken lamp?

The thing with your brother?

Did somebody call?

Did Mom tell him?

Sometimes you got there and he just wanted you to take the trash out.

That might have been the greatest relief a kid could experience.

Funny how a father's voice could communicate an entire paragraph without changing more than a few syllables.

Kids from that era didn't need a parenting book to explain what the tone meant.

We were fluent.

A new $35 million healthcare facility is coming to Oconee County.

ClearSky Health is investing $35 million to build a new 36-bed medical rehabilitation hospital in Seneca, bringing roughly 100 new healthcare jobs to Oconee County.

Thank you to Jamie Gilbert and the Oconee Economic Alliance for the work that brought this investment here.

I’m excited about this because it matters beyond the jobs. It creates access right here at home for families who need rehabilitation care after a stroke, serious injury, or other major medical event, keeping them close to the people who love them.

It's the insurance companies... and I help my clients battle them and find my clients the best coverage in their area to fit their specific needs. There have been major changes to Advantage plans and PDP's the past 2 years.

If your agent has only told you "You're good again for next year" for several years (or more) then they are likely also part of the problem. That is not a 'review' of your plan or your other options for each plan year.

The dirty secret in the Medicare Advantage insurance agent world is that too many agents focus way way more on getting new clients than properly and ethically serving their existing clients. It's easier to suck up renewal commissions with minimal or zero work every annual election period and lose a few existing clients that wised up and found an agent that actually returns their calls, reviews their coverage, and answers questions.

That is not how I operate.
The 2 biggest reasons I lose clients is that they pass away or move away.

Changes definitely coming for Medicare Advantage plans and PDP's again for 2027.
Agents are prohibited from releasing or discussing any plan-specific or company-specific information until October 1st.

I've already said this fall Annual Election Period is going to be chaotic... and this definitely adds to it. This is not the only company that is dropping some Advantage Plans for 2025.

MAKE SURE your read your ANOC (annual notice of change) when it comes in the mail in late Sept. Many people are going to realize they don't remember how to reach their agent if they haven't already been talking to them annually, and others will find their agent is no longer in the insurance biz.

I am already being called by clients that keep up with the news. We can talk about your specific plan after you receive your ANOC, and we can talk with you about other 2025 plans and benefits beginning Oct 1st.

The best advice I can give you NOW is - DO NOT WAIT until late in the AEP to act (ends Dec 7th). Call your agent if you still have one to set a time to meet.

Or call/text/email Me to set a meeting time for October to review the options in your county with all the Advantage Plan companies and plans and all the Rx plans too - major changes coming there as well.

I am in my 11th year specializing in Medicare, and I have never been anywhere even close to having so many appointments already scheduled with existing clients... but I keep in touch with mine and try to keep them educated on things that may affect them. I can help you at this chaotic time as well.

You do not have to freak out over these changes.

There are several SPECIAL RIGHTS any medicare beneficiary has if their Advantage plan is being discontinued and I know them all well. The most IMPORTANT thing you can do is to talk with an agent with years of experience that should know these special rights as well as I do.
