Okay Future Homeowners of America! I love talking real life scenarios!

That house you love? The one with the fenced in backyard, two car garage, 3 bed 2 bath with an entertainment room, meticulously renovated, and move-in ready. Yes, let’s say that house is listed at $350,000.

A 3.5 % down payment on that house is $12,250 dollars.

A 5% down payment is $17,500.

So here are two things to ask yourself when you’re planning your home buying journey:

Is this a lifestyle decision or an investment decision?

A lifestyle decision means you’re probably not willing to lower your standards for quality of living. So now you have to ask yourself how much do I need to save weekly/monthly before I have down payment money?

An investment decision means you’re probably willing to give up some aspects of quality of life to purchase a property that needs some value add work completed.

The reason I give to the Center of Hope/ women shelters is because their work is tangible. I go there and I see the women and children they support. I know this will directly impact someone in our community. We are a village. Being a good steward of resources is what we were called here to do.

God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth” [Gen 1:26–28].
