Medicare takes steps to protect the beneficiary’s identity and prevent fraud. CMS recently processed a large volume of MBI reassignments with an effective date of April 14, 2026. CMS will provide the beneficiary a new card with their new Medicare Beneficiary Identifier Number throughout March 2026.

The FTC fined Assurance IQ $100M and MediaAlpha $45M for misleading consumers into buying health plans that lacked promised coverage and for flooding them with deceptive telemarketing. Both companies are banned from making false claims, must refund harmed consumers, and must follow strict compliance rules going forward.

*NOTICE* - 94,000 Medicare Beneficiaries will be receiving new Medicare cards in the mail.

Medicare takes steps to protect the beneficiary’s identity and prevent fraud. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will process a large volume of Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) Number reassignments with an effective date of 08/11/2025. CMS will provide the beneficiary with a new card with their new MBI number.
