This bipartisan effort finally targets the backlogs and makes it easier for veterans carrying invisible wounds—like PTSD or TBI—to access the healthcare and housing benefits they earned.

Here are the key takeaways from the Streamline Upgrades for Veterans Act:

Targets the "Bad Paper" Backlog: It directly aims to eliminate the massive, years-long administrative backlog for veterans seeking military discharge upgrades due to service-related trauma.

Protects Crucial Staffing: The bill freezes personnel cuts at military review boards through 2030, ensuring there are enough resources to process applications much faster.

Forces Full Transparency: It demands accountability by requiring the Department of Defense to publicly report on and actively fix the administrative hurdles causing the delays.
