Okay, I have to admit⦠the new Tesla Roadster demo was pretty impressive. šš
A car that can literally launch itself off the ground? Thatās the kind of technology thatās hard NOT to get excited about.
But once you get past the spectacle, I have a LOT of questions.
First, will this thing actually make it into production? Weāve been hearing about the next-generation Roadster for years, and thereās a big difference between showing off an incredible prototype and delivering a vehicle people can actually buy.
Second, is a car that can essentially jump into the air even going to be street legal? What happens with safety regulations, insurance, liability, and all the other things that come with putting something like this on public roads?
And then thereās the business side.
How much will it actually cost to manufacture? Can Tesla produce it at scale? Is there enough demand to justify the investment? And will the final production model deliver what weāre seeing in these demonstrations?
I love innovation. I love seeing companies push boundaries and create things that once seemed impossible.
But from a business and investment perspective, an exciting demonstration isnāt the same thing as a commercially viable product.
You can appreciate the technology, enjoy the spectacle, and still ask whether the numbers and ex*****on make sense.
Personally, Iām excited to see where this goes. Iām just not ready to confuse a great reveal with a finished product.
What do you think? Are we actually going to see a flying Roadster on the road, or is this another Tesla promise that could be years away? š
