Regardless of the reason, if someone asks you to pay for something with a gift card, it is always a scam. Gift cards are for gifts, and not for payments. Read more about other hard-to-trace payment methods that are red flags for fraud.

Let’s say someone contacts you unexpectedly and says you have to pay to fix a problem, get a prize, or something else. But then they say the only way to pay is by bank transfer, wire transfer, cryptocurrency, payment app, or gift card. Well, reports to the FTC show that’s a scam.

The 10th Annual LaCrosse Branch School Supply Drive was a success with more than $1,500 of school supplies being donated to USD 395 LaCrosse for the upcoming school year. Without the generous support of the community, this would not have been possible. Thank you to everyone who helped support the students as they get ready to start another year!
