At Flourish Financial Planning, our mission is to help Christians steward their finances with wisdom, generosity, and joy.

We are a fee-only firm, which means we work for you, not for a commission. Every recommendation is rooted in your best interest.

But what truly drives us is this: we want your financial plan to be an extension of your faith. A tool for generosity. A pathway to contentment. A reflection of who God has called you to be.

If that resonates with you, we would love to have a conversation.

You can schedule a meeting with Flourish Financial Planning directly on our website, or leave a message and we will get back with you.

A good summary for P/E ratios (and other similar rations) in investing: https://www.forbes.com/advisor/investing/what-is-pe-price-earnings-ratio/
"The most common use of the P/E ratio is to gauge the valuation of a stock or index. The higher the ratio, the more expensive a stock is relative to its earnings. The lower the ratio, the less expensive the stock. In this way, stocks and equity mutual funds can be classified as 'growth' or 'value' investments."

Here are three biblical concepts we can apply to our investment portfolios.

In God's word we find wisdom. James 1:5 (ESV) says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given." His word reveals Himself leading us to worship Him, and His word reveals how He intended us to live a flourishing life. W

Matthew 6:25-34 is one of the most comforting passages for anyone who has ever felt anxious about money.

"Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear."

Jesus is not saying planning is wrong. He is saying anxiety is unnecessary when your Father knows what you need.

More budgeting does not cure financial anxiety. More strict budgeting does not provide rest. God provides Himself as our rest.

If you find yourself anxious about finances today, start with prayer before you start with a spreadsheet.

The Rich Young Ruler walked away from Jesus sad because "he had great wealth" (Mark 10:22).

Notice: his wealth did not make him happy. It made him sad. Because it was the one thing standing between him and fully following Jesus.

Tim Keller writes that the real twist of this story is that Jesus Himself is the ultimate Rich Young Ruler. Far richer than this man could imagine, He gave away everything to come after us.

"The only way I know to counteract the power of money in your life is to see the ultimate Rich Young Ruler, who gave away everything to come after you."

Ecclesiastes 5:10 says, "Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income."

If your definition of "enough" is always "a little more than I have now," you are on a treadmill.

Contemplating enough is one of the most radical and freeing things you can do. It breaks the cycle of comparison. It opens the door to generosity. And it anchors your heart in God's provision rather than your own accumulation.

What does "enough" look like for your family?

We recently wrote about a concept found in the old testament - Gleaning and Margin - and reviewed how to apply this to our modern finances. Margin can be used for generosity towards the marginalized; a chance to remember God; and the practice of rest.

The concepts of gleaning and creating margin are themes that are periodically commanded and mentioned within the Old Testament and for good reason. But what does this mean for us Christians living according to the New Covenant through Christ?

Just because you have a budget does not mean your budgeting honors Christ.

Honoring Christ with finances goes deeper than being fiscally responsible. Non-believers can be responsible with money too.

The heart behind the budget matters more than the budget itself.

Are you budgeting out of anxiety or trust?
Self-reliance or dependence on God?
Fear of scarcity or gratitude for provision?

Isaiah 64 reminds us that even our righteous acts can be filthy rags when the heart is wrong. Let us focus on our hearts first, then the practices will follow.

"Gratitude is our bodies’ natural antidepressant. Researchers at UCLA find that gratitude changes the 'neural structures in the brain and make[s] us feel happier and more content.'" Here is a practical guide from the Christian Financial Advisor Network to help cultivate gratitude.

Normally, the holidays are filled with joyous anticipation. Within a span of three months in the U.S., we move from Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Year’s Eve. It is time to celebrate! And yet, we find ourselves in a very different situation this year.

"No one can serve two masters." (Matthew 6:24)

Jesus does not say "you should not." He says "you cannot."

Money is one of the few things Jesus names as a direct competitor to God for your heart. Not because money is evil, but because it promises the same things God promises: security, peace, identity, and freedom.

The difference? Money's promises always expire. God's never do.

How we handle our finances is one of the clearest windows into the state of our hearts. Not the amount. The posture.
