Imagine working a full day at a corporate job, then coming home to spend hours reading aloud so your child could keep up in school.
For years, that was reality for Amelia Menk Brown.
Her daughter’s dyslexia and ADHD made traditional homework especially difficult, relying heavily on auditory learning to process information. Instead of accepting the gap in support, Brown decided to build something that could help.
That decision led to the creation of Knowzy.ai, an AI-powered learning and knowledge management platform designed to help people engage with information, not just consume it.
Today, we’re overwhelmed with endless streams of content: videos, texts, images, audio, and notifications competing for our attention. Knowzy.ai helps users slow down, capture what matters, and strengthen critical-thinking and problem-solving skills along the way.
The platform can process virtually any media type, organizing and analyzing information to improve understanding and long-term retention. Since launching in 2022, Knowzy.ai has been tested by both teachers and students and earned a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
Along the entrepreneurial journey, Brown also found a partner in Fortuna Bank. After attending one of the bank’s free community events, she was inspired by their commitment to Columbus’ small business ecosystem.
“Working with Fortuna feels like having colleagues in finance,” Brown says. “It’s a model of banking I’ve not seen before. It’s a gem in this city.”
