New Development Corporation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for home ownership, affordable housing, and financial security in the Creston, Stocking and Belknap neighborhoods of Grand Rapids. MSHDA's Neighborhood Enhancement Program opportunities are currently available in the Creston Neighborhood. This program provides mini grants to homeowners for façade improvements or energy efficiency installations such as furnaces & water heaters.

Observed on June 19, Juneteenth (also known as Freedom Day) commemorates the actual end of slavery in the United States.

While the Emancipation Proclamation was enacted in 1863, word did not reach everyone immediately. On June 19, 1865, approximately 250,000 enslaved individuals in Texas were finally notified of their freedom. What began as a local Texas gathering is honored nationwide as a federal holiday.

Community economic development is ultimately about investment in people, culture, and community. In celebration, the New Development Corp office will be closed Friday, June 19th.
