Average Mortgage Rates Fluctuate
Market Update | June 12th, 2026
Big news moves markets, including the bond market. Mortgage lenders prefer to set rates only once per day, but they will make mid-day changes if the underlying bond market makes a big enough move. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.52% this week. Stronger employment momentum has helped existing home sales reach a five-month high. Importantly, homebuyers are looking past the short-term rate fluctuations and actively entering the market, signaling renewed confidence in homeownership opportunities.
