half. I had spent five rewarding years managing a financial literacy program at a state flagship university and was contemplating my next step. Having spent three decades in the mortgage industry before, the prospect of re-entering that space seemed enticing. A Mission Born: Serving Veterans and Active-Duty Personnel
But I knew one thing for certain - if I were to dive back into mortgages, I would serve veterans and active-duty military personnel. I had seen the harsh reality where these heroes were often misguided or misunderstood by lenders unfamiliar with the VA lending process. Prior to this, in my initial foray into mortgage origination, I quickly found myself in the top 1% of industry professionals, and was known for my unique approach to the mortgage process. That was just the beginning - I soon led a startup operation that successfully funded over $2 billion in mortgage loans. My achievements caught the attention of several prominent publications including the Denver Post and Hispanic Business Magazine. Corporate Stints: Leadership Roles and Milestones
My thirst for new challenges led me to the corporate world where I assumed various leadership roles, including executive positions in the country's then largest mortgage lender. The most fulfilling of these roles was managing a project that propelled our FHA/VA/USDA retail production from $6 billion to a whopping $32 billion! The Sabbatical: Cultivating Financial Wellness
Fast forward to 2017, after nearly three decades in the mortgage industry, I thought it was time to slow down. I took a brief hiatus and then managed the University of Idaho's Financial Wellness program. Here, I had the privilege of helping students, alumni, and staff attain financial stability, thereby contributing positively to countless individuals' financial lives. Fate, however, had other plans. We moved back to Colorado, and I felt the familiar pull of the mortgage industry calling me back. This time, equipped with an in-depth understanding of financial literacy and the mortgage banking industry, I returned to my roots as a mortgage loan originator. My Mission: Simplifying the Complex
