Turning 65 Soon? Here’s What You Need to Know About Medicare

Turning 65 is a major milestone, and with it comes an important decision—your Medicare coverage. If you’re new to Medicare, you might have questions about when to enroll, what plans are available, and how to choose the right coverage for your needs.

Here are a few key things to keep in mind:

Your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) begins three months before your 65th birthday, includes your birthday month, and extends three months after, giving you a seven-month window to enroll.
Medicare has different parts and options to consider, including Original Medicare (Parts A & B), Medicare Advantage (Part C), and Prescription Drug Plans (Part D).
If you're still working and have employer coverage, you may have additional options to consider before enrolling to ensure you get the best coverage for your situation.
Navigating Medicare can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. This is the first in a series of posts designed to break down Medicare in a simple and straightforward way. Stay tuned for more information on coverage options, costs, and how to make the best decision for your healthcare needs.

Today, we recognize Ronald Reagan Day, honoring the life and leadership of our nation’s 40th President. Born on February 6, 1911, Reagan had a unique journey to the presidency—starting as a radio broadcaster, then a Hollywood actor, before serving two terms as the Governor of California. In 1981, he took office as President, bringing with him a strong belief in leadership, optimism, and the American spirit.

One of his most well-known quotes reflects that optimism:
"There is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn’t mind who gets the credit."

Reagan’s presidency is often remembered for its focus on economic policy, national defense, and reshaping America’s role on the global stage. Whether you remember him for his speeches, his policies, or his ability to connect with the American people, his impact on history is undeniable.

What do you remember most about President Reagan? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Today, we honor the courage and dedication of our veterans.
Veterans Day originated as Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I on November 11, 1918—a moment when hostilities ceased on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
In 1954, the day was renamed Veterans Day to recognize and celebrate all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. At Raven & Wolf Benefits, we’re committed to supporting veterans by helping them navigate the benefits they’ve earned. We thank each of you for your service and sacrifice.

What an incredible night! We were so honored to host the Together in Honor: Celebrating Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans event with The Steadfast Valor Foundation. This marks our third time bringing the community together to honor and serve those who sacrificed so much. It’s all about recognizing their dedication and ensuring they feel the gratitude they have so rightly earned.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and made this event possible. Together, we continue to honor the service and sacrifices of our heroes.

What an amazing night! Last night’s Together in Honor Ceremony was a huge success as we honored 6 Korean War veterans and 13 Vietnam Era veterans for their service and sacrifice.

We’d like to give a special thank you to our incredible community partners: Grand Junction VA Western Colorado Health Care System, The Grand Junction Vet Center , Collar Of Duty, Anthony Lee Mesa County Veterans Service Officer, The Grand Junction Veterans Memorial Cemetery, The Blue Star Mothers, and Western Region One Source. As well as all of the amazing community members who came to volunteer! Your support means the world to us and our veterans.

A big shoutout to Spectrum Sound Design, LLC for providing the sound, Michelle, Tori, and Selah Long for their beautiful performance of the National Anthem, Central High School JROTC for presenting the colors, and Master Chief John Meyer for playing Taps. We’d also like to thank Marnie Bingham for her inspiring words, Representative Matt Soper for attending and helping us honor our veterans, and Chad Mahlum Lifestyle Photography for capturing the evening in photos.

We are beyond grateful to everyone who made this event possible, and to all who came out to support and honor our veterans.

Why “Steadfast Valor”? It reflects the unwavering courage of our veterans and the firm resolve of our foundation to ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten. Just as Raven & Wolf Benefits began with a mission to serve, The Steadfast Valor Foundation carries forward that legacy, expanding our reach and impact.

On this day in history, July 9th, 1868, the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified. This pivotal amendment granted citizenship to "all persons born or naturalized in the United States," including former slaves, and provided all citizens with “equal protection of the laws.”

The 14th Amendment has had a profound impact on American society, ensuring that no state can deny any person the equal protection of the laws or deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process. It laid the groundwork for many landmark Supreme Court decisions and civil rights advancements, reinforcing the principles of equality and justice.

As we reflect on this significant milestone, let's honor the ongoing journey towards equality and the enduring importance of upholding these fundamental rights for all citizens. Contact Raven & Wolf Benefits today at (970) 822-2123, and let us help you navigate your Medicare journey.

On this day in history, July 8th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was publicly read for the first time in Philadelphia. This historic event occurred at the Pennsylvania State House, now known as Independence Hall. The powerful words of the Declaration, penned by Thomas Jefferson and adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4th, proclaimed the American colonies' intention to break free from British rule and establish a new nation founded on the principles of liberty and equality.

The public reading was conducted by Colonel John Nixon of the Philadelphia Committee of Safety, and it was met with enthusiastic cheers and celebrations from the gathered crowd. This reading marked a significant moment in the American Revolution, as it brought the revolutionary message directly to the people, inspiring hope and unity among the colonies.

Let's take a moment to reflect on the courage and vision of our Founding Fathers and the enduring principles of liberty, justice, and equality that continue to guide our nation today. Contact Raven & Wolf Benefits today at (970) 822-2123, and let us help you navigate your Medicare journey. 🇺
