Mike took so much time to walk us through each step of the process. He was patient and explained things (sometimes over and over) if we had questions. Great experience overall!

Question: If you see a baby animal all alone, should you pick it up, take it home, wrap it in a blanket and feed it:
A - a ham sandwich
B - a bottle of milk
C - a slice of cheese

Answer: It's none of the above...

Hey everyone, I'm taking a pause from mortgages and loans to bring you a friendly but important reminder.

As we head into spring and you are hiking on your favorite trail, walking around your neighborhood or even hanging out in your backyard, you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a wild baby animal. So please remember, if you love wildlife, do not approach, do not harass and please do not feed any wild animal at anytime! It is very harmful and illegal. In almost all cases, your intervention does far more harm than good.

Young animals like baby deer and elk are typically left alone by their mothers while the mother forages for food, often for several hours. This is normal, natural behavior. They have not been abandoned!

However, if you can clearly see that the mother has been injured or killed, or if the young animal appears malnourished or sick, call your local Colorado Parks and Wildlife office. Do not take matters into your own hands!

If a baby songbird has fallen from its nest, you can safely return it to the nest or get it as close as possible in a box filled with dryer lint, paper napkins, etc. Never grass. On the other hand, if a baby raptor has fallen from its nest, call CPW right away.

For the sake of your wildlife, please be responsible. Watch them from a safe distance and never feed, approach or harass.
