Initial jobless claims, which measures individuals filing for unemployment benefits for the first time, decreased 28,000 to 187,000. This is the lowest level since September of 1969... almost 53 years. Continuing claims which are those that continue to receive benefits after their initial claim, decreased 67,000 to 1.35 Million, which is the low going back to Jan 1970. Employers are holding onto their workers and firing less. This makes for a very tight labor market. If you want to work, there are jobs out there.
