Let me introduce you all to August’s Fill-a-Fridge recipient:
This month I had the distinct pleasure to sit down with a very strong woman who is raising an extremely bright and talented teenager who has been inducted in to the TN honors society, plays varsity volleyball at 14 years old, and is learning several languages in her “spare time.”
Not only is this months recipient a fantastic mother who is working multiple jobs to make sure her daughters dreams come true, but she is back at school herself less than two years out from a bachelors in Psychology!
On a day to day basis, this incredible human being is organizing her life around work, her daughters sports schedule, her other work, and her own schooling.
She was hesitant to reach out in the first place because she works so hard and doesn’t necessarily want a “hand out,” but during most months their household runs out of food by the third week.
I was humbled and impressed by the amount of courage it took for her to come in and tell me her story and do what she needed to do to make sure her 14 year old honor student and star athlete had enough food this month.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with and help such fantastic people in our community.
If I can leave you with a message it is that everyone has a story and there are so many people doing incredible things that aren’t on an IG story or a Facebook post.
To the community:
THANK YOU! Your support allows for my agency and this program to exist.
