Next Fortify Homes Lottery Goes Live June 1 as Program Expands to New Parishes

Louisiana Fortify Homes Lottery — Simple Explanation
The Louisiana Fortify Homes Lottery is a way for eligible homeowners to get a grant of up to $10,000 to upgrade their roof to a FORTIFIED standard that can better withstand hurricane-force winds and other severe weather LDI+1.

How it works:

The program is run by the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI).

It’s not open all the time — registration happens in short “lottery” periods.

During these periods, interested homeowners sign up online for the lottery.

Homes are randomly selected (like a drawing) to receive the grant Louisiana Illuminator.

Each grant covers up to $10,000 for roof work that meets the FORTIFIED standard, which uses stronger materials and techniques to resist winds up to 150 mph LDI+1.

Who can apply:

Your home must be your primary residence (not new construction, condos, or mobile homes) LDI+1.

You must be able to prove you have a homestead exemption.
