It’s a reflective day at Macias Insurance. One of our own, Lydia Taul, will be leaving today to start her year of student teaching in the Jerseyville School District. The following year she will begin her career as a school teacher. Lydia joined the agency in 2020 when she was a junior in high school. Her original job was filing paperwork. Over time she learned to quote both auto and home insurance. She became our receptionist and was the face of the agency when a customer came into the office. She was our social media content developer and creative designer of all Facebook ads. That was her gift. Beyond all that Lydia was and is just a hard worker. One time at the old office she asked “Barry, do you mind if I bring in some putty and a putty knife and fill in the holes in the office walls…!”

Other times I’d have an idea and would go up to her desk and announce “Lydia, I have an idea”. It could be an ad, a Facebook post for employee recognition or even our new agency logo (which she designed). Without fail she’d look at me and announce, “I can do that”. Within hours I’d have a draft that exceeded my expectations. Lydia is one of kind and a true partner to our agency family. As sad as this is, I’m excited for the world to see what quality she will bring as an educator. Lydia as I’ve told you before “change the world”. Fare you well, fare you well, we love you more than words can tell.
