What a great program at the Glennville Rotary Club yesterday, welcoming Mrs. America Paige Armstrong Ewing as a "guest" speaker, although as she reminded us, neither the Garden Club building or Glennville is new to her. 😉

Paige is one of our co-Grand Marshals for this year's Glennville Sweet Onion Festival, as well as co-owner of Armstrong Cricket Farm (along with her sister Jessica, who also came to visit). Even though Paige and Jessica both reside out of town now, they continue the legacy of their parents, running the family business to continue as long-time supporters of not just the festival, but our Chamber and entire community.

I would encourage everyone to take just a few minutes when you have time and listen to her speech. She did a wonderful job presenting a very meaningful topic we can all benefit from.

We're so proud of you, Paige, and thank you for bringing your message and encouragement right back home to Glennville.

Today, our Rotary Club ⚙️ had the incredible honor of welcoming Paige Armstrong Ewing, Mrs. America 2025 👑 and what a truly unforgettable afternoon it was.

From her roots in Glennville, Tattnall County, to earning the title of Mrs. Georgia and ultimately being crowned Mrs. America, Paige’s journey is a beautiful testament to grace, resilience, and faith.

One of the most powerful moments was when she described grief as a dance. 💃 Sometimes it moves like the Cha-Cha quick, unexpected, and sharp. Other times, it feels like the waltz, slow, steady, and heavy. But no matter the rhythm, she encouraged us to keep dancing. To keep moving forward. To keep choosing hope. ✨

Her vulnerability, strength, and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone in the room.

Paige, thank you for sharing your story, your heart, and your time with our Rotary family ⚙️💙 We are so grateful for your presence and the light you brought to us. Truly a queen in every sense of the word. 👑✨

Alright, the time has come and we're looking for all of our GOLFERS !!!
(And businesses that would like to support them and us!)

The Glennville Chamber is proud to be hosting our 19th annual Sweet Onion Classic Golf Tournament on Saturday, October 26th at Evans Heights Golf Course in Claxton. Registration will begin at 8 AM with shotgun start at 9 AM. We will break for lunch at 1 PM, provided by Rusty Pig BBQ. We are now taking applications as well as looking for sponsors!! This will be a fun day full of prizes, and you don't want to miss out on having your business' name involved!!

You can choose to sponsor the event in two ways:

1. You may send your check to the Glennville Chamber at PO Box 391 Glennville, Georgia 30427. Please still contact us to let us know to expect it since the mail is iffy at times.
2. You can pay online at http://www.glennvillechamber.org, then go to "Make a Payment" under the Membership tab. Be sure to include notes with the requested details, as well as your logo if we don't have it already.

*Sponsorships are requested by October 11th to allow time for marketing as well as ordering supplies, etc.

Early voting is only one month away!!

No matter who you are or who you're voting for, as a US citizen, it is your constitutional right (and responsibility) to cast your vote.

Here are just a few things to think about in the weeks to come:

1. Make sure you're registered NOW! The deadline to register to vote in the 2024 election is coming up soon on October 7th. If you have any doubts about your registration or where you need to go to vote, you can input your information at https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/ to check all of your registration information and your current status. And don't forget to bring your valid ID when you get ready to go vote!

2. Check locally for details on your local polling places. You can use the link https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/advanced-voting-location-information to find out about locations nearby. There are several for Tattnall County, but only one EARLY voting location for Glennville (and a few for Reidsville). This link can give you the dates, hours, and even directions for each location. **Make sure you pay close attention to your location for Election Day voting. One polling place in Tison has to vote at another location for this election due to storm damage.

3. If you're able to, VOTE EARLY!! Election Day isn't until November 5th, but you don't need to wait until then to go vote. Be sure you don't run out of time, and avoid standing in long lines on Election Day, by voting early as soon as early voting begins. (Check the exact dates/times using the link above.)

4. Do your own research!! Part of our civic duty is to educate ourselves before we vote. Don't just listen to what others have said or "go with the flow". The choices you make when you vote can and will affect our city, state, country, and even world for years to come. And no matter how small your one vote may seem, it does make a difference!! Politicians always make big promises at election time, but do a little research on your own to see how each candidate has handled things so far, and how they may affect your life and future, as well as your family's. Remember, voting is private, so you do what you think is right, and it's nobody else's business but your own who and what you vote for!

5. At the end of the day, your vote is important and matters, but your friends, family, and neighbors matter more. Don't let politics far away in Washington divide you from your closest loved ones here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and vote, and we must all respect each other's. If you think an argument will come out of a discussion, change the subject or just tell them you don't want to talk about politics. On November 6th, your neighbors will still be your neighbors. Keep loving each other, and embrace the differences you may have rather than letting them divide us.

Remember, if you don't get out and vote now, four years is a long time you can't complain about the outcome! 😉 So GO VOTE!!!
