Advice for possibly filing a homeowners claim due to last nights storm:

1. Check your policy first before filing a claim to make sure you have the proper coverage. In most cases, you must have the sewer backup/sump pump overflow endorsement.
2. A flood policy might be needed in some cases
3. Don't use the word flood when you're filing a claim.
4. Take pictures and videos of damaged items/areas.
5. Contact a local restoration company
6. Remember, insurance professionals are humans too. We are going through this together.
