Mortgage rates: What it looks like for July 2020
Mortgage rates have fallen to a new all-time low.
After touching a record 3.29% in early March, the 30-year fixed-rate average dipped to just 3.13% in June, according to Freddie Mac. The corona-virus pandemic is suppressing interest rates like few things before it. Some lenders are offering 2.5% or lower. All depends on one’s credit picture and certain variables in loan to values, income ratios and your opportunity to buy it down when lower rate is available.
Take the opportunity to buy or refinance is you can. Will interest rates go lower? Probably. But they could also shoot up if the economy recovers faster than expected.
