BMG Bookkeeping LLC

BMG Bookkeeping LLC Helping US based small business owners maintain accurate financial records. I'm Beth, President of BMG Bookkeeping LLC. Bookkeeping, for me, is a 2nd Career.

I am a small business owner who is passionate about helping other small business owners and nonprofits maintain accurate financial records. I understand the struggle that comes with maintaining your “books”. Your love and passion for your business or organization comes easy but the record keeping, not so much. I can help you solve your bookkeeping headaches. I can help organize finances, monitor c

ash flow, eliminate guesswork with data entry and, at the end of the day, I can provide peace of mind. My goal is to help you stop worrying about your bookkeeping. That time can be better spent focusing on your business, serving your customer base, or spending time doing what you love. It came after 25 years of working in the hospital system as a cardiac/telemetry and maternal/newborn RN. It was my love of numbers, budgeting, and creating order out of the chaos that led me to bookkeeping. The more I learned the more I loved it. It is a very different career path but nursing prepared me well for this new role. I am detail-oriented and organized. I am trustworthy and reliable. I manage my time well and am easy to work with. The transition from RN to bookkeeping professional was gradual. After working with a local business managing their books, I successfully completed the Bookkeeper Launch course and became a certified Quickbooks Advanced ProAdvisor. I opened the doors of BMG Bookkeeping in 2022. I am continually seeking out opportunities to educate myself and stay current with best practices. I provide exceptional service and can’t wait to meet you! If you are in need of accurate and reliable bookkeeping please feel free to contact me.

When you reach the end of an accounting period, you need to "close the books."

At a minimum, you will close your books annually because you have to file a tax return every year, and you should prepare annual financial statements as well.

Here's a simplified guide for small business owners:

1. Review all your transactions. Ensure all entries are accurate and categorized correctly.

2. Reconcile all your accounts. Match bank statements with your records for accuracy.

3. Create adjusting entries. Make any necessary adjustments for accruals or prepayments.

4. Generate income statement and balance sheet. Ensure your records are tax-ready for the upcoming season.

By closing your books regularly (monthly, quarterly, or annually), you can ensure the statements from the previous reports do not affect the current terms, which could produce an inaccurate report on the state of your business accounts.

Bookkeepers and accountants often do these steps and use professional accounting software to reduce errors.

Have you been trying to keep up with your bookkeeping but are not sure that you have been doing it correctly?

The Internal Revenue Service recently announced a delay in reporting thresholds for third-party settlement organizations set to take effect for the upcoming tax filing season.

As a result of this delay, third-party settlement organizations like Venmo, Paypal & Cash App will not be required to report tax year 2023 transactions on a Form 1099-K to the IRS or the payee for the $600 threshold amount.

Reporting will not be required unless the taxpayer receives over $20,000 and has more than 200 transactions in 2023.

The $600 threshold will go into effect for tax year 2025, and taxpayers over the limit can expect to receive a 1099-K at the beginning of 2026.
