Let's take a look at what's happening for drug costs in 2027, the Medicare annual open enrollment is only 6 weeks away.
In 2010, the Affordable Care Act officially began the process of closing the "donut hole". In 2025, the final framework from the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, completely eliminated the remaining structure of the donut hole, replacing it with a hard annual out-of-pocket spending cap.
Yes, our Government has negotiated lower drug costs, however, that only means it will take longer to get to the Max Out-of-Pocket (MOOP), many Medicare Beneficiaries won't reach that max amount at all during the year, some will reach it in the first month.
