I grew up stacking lumber, sweeping sawdust, and carrying material up ladders. 🧹

That’s what a lot of my Saturdays looked like growing up if I wasn’t playing in a football game or wrestling in tournament. 🏈

And I hated it.

Mostly because this wasn’t work I volunteered for. So, I jumped at the first opportunity I had to do something else. Getting paid for my work was also attractive.

I washed dishes, worked in assembly plants, and manned a drive thru. All of this, just so I wasn’t available to be my old man’s free labor. (Maybe that was his plan all along. 🤣)

This rebellion of sorts eventually led to a college education, moving west, and right back to construction.

🏡 In college I painted houses.

When I first moved to California I worked for a geotechnical contractor, lifting buildings and roadways that were sinking into the ground. 🛣️

That took me to Arizona where I started to work with technology and eventually with small unmanned systems (sUAS) for data acquisition and mapping.

That adds up to a lot of projects, a lot of plans going sideways, and a lot of lessons learned the hard way.

All of which gives me great context for helping contractors protect their livelihoods from the unexpected and their profits from being drained by unfavorable insurance terms. 🙂 👍
