1. Carrier losses- if the carrier you are with experiences a significant amount of loss within a year, premiums of clients are adjusted at renewal to cover the difference.

2. Attractive nuisances- this includes trampolines, pools or other items that could endanger and cause more risk to people (specifically children).

3. Claims history- filing several claims (liability, water damage, theft) can cause your account to be flagged as ‘high risk’ which tends to result in more scrutiny and an increase in premium.

4. Age of roof- carriers tend to view roofs 15 years or older to be higher risk for leaks or have damage from hail or windstorms. This can lead to a higher premium.

5. High risk dog breed or a dog with bite history-some carriers have certain dog breeds that they refuse to cover (Pit bulls, German Shepherd, Akita, etc.) and if your dog has a bite history, you can expect a higher premium to cover the increase in risk that brings.

This transition has opened up additional doors for our agency and we are pleased to announce that we are now available to write business in all of the Southwest region of the United States.
