We are back after spring break to recognize some awesome student athletes that have really been showing off!
Emma Short, RJ Gaitan, Ahtziri Moore, Alaina Gilmon, and Llyssa Hickey are the Cory Harris State Farm Good Neighbor Athletes!

🏆Emma Short- She is an exceptional student-athlete who consistently excels both on the field and in the classroom. A dedicated and disciplined senior, she leads by example, always giving her best effort and meeting every expectation with a positive attitude. She is currently leading the team with an impressive .443 overall batting average and a .556 batting average in district, showcasing her consistency and reliability at the plate. In addition, she is a constant threat on the mound, bringing strength and confidence to every game situation, she has 18 strikeouts in district. Her commitment, work ethic, and coachability sets her apart, making her a valuable teammate and a respected leader. Academically, she maintains high standards and takes pride in her achievements, balancing her responsibilities with grace and focus.
🏆RJ Gaitan- She is a dedicated and dependable student-athlete who consistently does the right things both on and off the field. As a Junior, she leads with integrity, setting a strong example through her work ethic, accountability, and positive attitude. She is always encouraging to her teammates, lifting others up and helping create a supportive and competitive team environment. Her selflessness and commitment make her someone coaches and teammates can always rely on.
🏆Ahtziri Moore has a great work ethic. She works extremely hard during practice and is constantly perfecting her craft in season and during the offseason. Ahtziri is a great teammate and is willing to help her teammates anyway she can. Ahtziri received two 1st place finishes at the Weimar Meet last week in the 100 and 300 Hurdles and ran the anchor leg on the 4X400 relay which placed 3rd. Ahtziri qualified for Texas Relays in the 100 Hurdles and 4x400 relay.
🏆Balancing five events is no small feat, but Alaina Gilmon continues to prove she can excel in both running and field events. She is the only athlete in the program that competes in 5 events. Alaina placed 1st in Shot put and 4x100 relay 2nd place in 4x200 and 4th place in 200 meter dash last week in the Weimar meet.
🏆Llyssa Hickey has been a dominant force in the throwing events all year. She has collected many 1st place finishes in discus this season. Last week at the Weimar meet she placed 1st in discus with a personal best of 127 feet 3 inches and placed 4th in shot put.
