This past weekend 5 young farmers from Columbia County attended New York Farm Bureau Young Farmers conference! Quade Kirk, Janet Chittenden, Brendan Ooms, Calvin Keller, and Jacob Mesick were all in attendance. They were able to listen to numerous speakers and attend an option of three different agricultural tours.

This past week four of our members attended the New York Farm Bureau State Annual Convention. They all got to participate in the delegate session, discussing the state’s policies. Board member Eric Ooms received the Distinguished Service Award after his 16 years as NYFB Vice President.

On Monday night, members handed out delicious products produced in our county! Tuesday, we had members represent our county speaking to different legislators about topics in agriculture for Lobby Days.

Amazing turn out last night!! We had about 80 people attend our county annual meeting at Kinderhook Elks Lodge #2530. We got to hear from New York Farm Bureau CEO Deanna Fox, Senator Michelle Hinchey, and Congressman Marc Molinaro. Our county and state boards were able to honor Eric Ooms for all of his service for NYFB. Thank you to all of our donations from local businesses, we were able to auction some off and raise over $1,500 for the Taconic Hills Central School District FFA program!
