Attn: All the new homeowners in Mississippi 👩🏾👨🏾🏡 Please don’t forget to go file your homestead exemption for 2019! The deadline is March 31 but, because that falls on a Sunday, I would advise you to file it by this Friday, March 29! In Desoto County, you would file it at the tax assessor’s office located at 365 Losher St. Ste 100 in Hernando. This will potentially save $300 a year off the property tax on your primary residence. You must remember to do this every year! If this is your first time filing for the exemption, remember to take your driver’s license, social security numbers for you and your spouse if married, car tag number(s), a copy of your warranty deed and your settlement statement from your closing.
