I have a heart for it because I bought my first home when I was 19 years old…. It was a piece of crap!
We were qualified for an FHA loan, and had to put a new electrical box in with new wiring because it was all spool and tube. We had to dig up the dirt basement and put a sump pump and drainage tiles in…. All before we even closed on the house! The lady who owned it was 92 years old and wanted us to have this house because we were a young family just starting out.
We worked our butts off just for it to pass FHA appraisal so we could close.
My dad helped and his best friend who was an electrician. We closed and that lovely lady who had raised her whole family in that house, was there at the closing signing with shaky hands. She told me about each thing she planted and the history of that house.
This step in life was a monumental one. Home ownership matters. It brought us stability and a place for my 2 little kids and one on the way! We worked on this house and ended up doubling our money 4 years later when we sold it.
We had a ton of help and a lot of luck and we worked really hard. It was under construction for 4 years and we did it all ourselves. I’ll ALWAYS go above and beyond for my young buyers cuz I get it! 😭💛
