Others begin with one machine, a spare room and somebody saying, “I think people might actually pay me to do this.”

We have watched women in the creative industry turn quilting, embroidery, sewing and other skills into shops, studios and businesses that support families, employ people and serve entire communities. We love getting to work with them through every size and stage of that growth.

That little question about how your business is organized may feel like paperwork for paperwork's sake, but it tells us who is entering into the financing agreement.

If your quilt shop is known everywhere as Stitch Happy but the legal business behind it is Smith Creative LLC, seeing Smith Creative LLC on financing paperwork does not mean anyone has your business wrong.

Sometimes a dealer promotion gives you a choice. Maybe there is a discount for paying cash, while another option includes promotional financing!

Which one is better? There is not one answer that works for every business. This is where we pull the offers apart and look at the actual dollars instead of getting distracted by the biggest discount or the prettiest payment.

What does each choice cost overall, and what does keeping more cash available mean for your business? Two good offers can still work very differently once you look at the whole picture.

Here is one that can surprise people when they start thinking about trading a machine!

Your machine might be worth $15,000 as a trade, but if you still owe $6,000 on it, those
are two separate numbers. The payoff does not disappear because the dealer is taking
the machine.

That does not mean a trade cannot work! It just means we need both numbers to
understand what the new purchase looks like. If you are starting to eye an upgrade,
knowing your current payoff gives everyone a much better place to start.

We just want to make sure the whole picture gets looked at too. Age, maintenance history, available service, software, training and any accessories you may still need can all affect what that machine really costs to put to work.
