is now a major hurricane and continues to strengthen. It remains forecast to peak at 150-mph intensity but we wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a Category 5 hurricane within the next 48 hours. The cyclone will then make landfall somewhere on the Carolinas Thursday evening with winds likely in excess of 140 mph. The exact track of Florence is still somewhat uncertain but the odds currently favor the NC/SC border in terms of landfall location. Life-threatening storm surge, winds, surf, and flash flooding are a few of the threats this storm will pose.
