An Insurance Notice to our Clients:

We at Fromarc Insurance Agency pride ourselves in educating our clients on the "whys", "hows", and "ifs" of their insurance policies. We keep information concise and accurate so you have confidence in the coverage of your most prized-possessions. Sometimes, that involves being the bearer of less-than-ideal news, but everything is amendable when you have our team on your side!

Lately, we've seen a high number of declinations and cancellations for properties with Zinsco (also known as GTE-Sylvania or Sylvania) panels. Upon further discussion and research, it's come to our attention that these panels have been blacklisted by many insurance companies, including all that are available to our agency. Why? Because these panels have design flaws that create a high risk of electrical fires and failures. With the modern demands of electricity, the panels do not have the capacity to carry the load. They're deemed a major life-safety hazard, and carriers are requiring replacement to consider coverage.

So you have a Zinsco panel? What do you do? It's highly recommended to consult with a licensed electrician for a replacement as soon as possible. The timeline to replace these panels can be lengthy due to scheduling a contractor, securing various approvals, and working with your electrical company. Starting the process now also creates more time to budget efficiently for a higher-cost replacement. Many carriers only issue a 30-day notice to replace these panels, so getting a head start allows you to navigate the process with less stress.

Gardnerville/Minden/South Lake Tahoe Families this is for you...

School is starting soon and we know that some families may not be able to afford a new backpack for their children. We want to help!!!

Starting this Monday 8/5/24 at our Gardnerville office and Tuesday 8/6/24 at our South Tahoe Office, we will have backpacks for kids. It will be a first come, first serve bases (limited quantify) and you DO NOT have to be an insured. No questions asked, we just want to help.

1156 Emerald Bay Rd. Unit C South Lake Tahoe, CA

Offices are open 9-5 closing for lunch from 12 - 1. If we still have some on Friday we are open 9-3, closing for lunch 12-1.

Insurance Tip for Business Owners:

When you call for an insurance quote, we are going to ask you everything you do. We will classify your business and paint a clear picture to the underwriter - I like to say we sell you to the carrier - we want to make you a customer they want to write. The Underwriter then does their own research. If you have a website, they will find it, review it, and see what is says you do. Next, they will look for your business on Social Media and your reviews to see what customers are saying about you. Make sure what you are advertising and posting on your business page are the services you told us you offer.

For example: We were quoting a landscaper. Many carriers will write landscapers, however, on their page for their landscaping business it showed that they put up Christmas Lights. They had a picture of a man in a boom truck hanging the lights. While this does not seem like a big deal, it is! It is a whole different liability and the Insurance companies declined to quote.

That guy can personally put up lights under another name, but not under the landscaping business. This can also throw a wrench in any current coverage if you are doing something that the insurance company did not know you were doing making your coverage not valid.

Talk to your agent before adding more classifications to your business. You might not have coverage with the current company you have. We do have other options, like non-admitted, but those get to be more expensive.
