Hey hey, Tennessee homeowners! 🙋🏼♀️👋🏻
Did you know these sneaky factors could be bumping up your insurance rates? With rate increases on homeowners on the rise, here are the top most common rating factors :
✨ Claims | As an agent, an advisory role is more important now more than ever! Make sure you have an agent that has a network of people on hand ready to help if you have any issues with your home. Considering having someone look at the issue prior to filing a claim to see if it’s claim worthy!
✨ Roof Age | if you have gotten a new roof recently, make sure your agent updated the roof age on your homeowners. Even if you had a claim with your insurance company, most policies don’t automatically update!
✨ Deductibles | if you have seen a hike in your homeowners with no claims / changes, talk to your agent about different deductible options. This is a great way to lower cost without scarficing coverages.
✨ Location | did you know the location of your home is a large rating factor? Especially if you are more than 5 miles from a responding fire dept and/or more than 1000ft from a fire hydrant.
✨ Home Characteristics | as we know, everyone’s home is a little different. The characteristics of your home make up what your home is insured for. If you have a home valued at $700k and Sally Jane at your kids school has a home valued at $200k, my bet is.. your premium looks a little different!
✨ Credit Score | ah, yes! Before you freak out, WE DO NOT HIT YOUR CREDIT WHEN QUOTING YOUR INSURANCE 😂 Everyone has an insurance score, most insurers use the information in your credit report to calculate an insurance score. I, as your agent can not see your credit score. If you have a lower credit score and lower liability limits that can directly impact how you are rated. Insurance is rated with most carriers non standard, standard and preferred. The better your insurance score, the longer you’ve had continuous coverage and the higher the liability limits, you guessed it.. the better your rate!
