Ok, folks, here is a good example of your rights being taken away right in front of your eyes, I am sure that most have heard about the bail reforms that are sweeping the country. Every politician that is looking for a vote is trying to get on one side or the other of bail reform. Now this example here is the fact that this lady has been charged with a crime. normally she would be granted a bail, which if she can not afford than she would need to contact a bondsman and come up with a percentage instead of the full amount. Lets take a look at this situation just a minute, she stabbed her own momma? who does that. also she is 18, she dont have any real friends yet that can come and bail her out. so she is sitting in jail. Here is the scary part. she is in jail in Kentucky, ky is one of the few states that dont have bail bondsman, so what do she do? this is where i am trying to get you to look at. in the constitution you have the right to bail. not in some states. you may say why is this a big deal, think about this. I have talked many different law enforcement officers in the state of Kentucky. I have asked them, do you like it with or without bail bondsman in Kentucky ? there answer is without, it's not so much the bondsman. it's like one sherrif said(with one phone call, i can get you released or held until trial.) so, when you look at the bail reform going on around the country, that is the thing you have to watch. in these large cities where you are only a number anyway they can keep you in jail if they thing you are a danger to society. What constitutes a danger to society ? who is making that decesion ? what are their qualifications to make that call ? etc. etc. get my point.
