Have you reviewed your coverage in the last 24 months?!

I wish this one were true. It would make life a lot simpler.

But Medicare plans can and do change. Every single year.

Every fall, during the Annual Enrollment Period from October 15 through December 7, insurance companies can make changes to their Medicare Advantage and Part D plans for the next year. Premiums can go up. Covered drugs can change. Which doctors or hospitals are participating can shift. . Benefits can be added or removed.

That means a plan that was perfect for you last year might not be the best fit this year.

And here’s the part that gets people. Most people don’t review their plan during Annual Enrollment. They just let it roll over automatically. Which means they could be paying more than they need to or missing out on better coverage without ever knowing it.

I once had a client reach out to me after three years on the same plan. When we actually sat down and compared what was available, we found a plan that saved them over [$ amount] a year with better drug coverage on top of it.

Three years of overpaying. Just because nobody had told them to take a second look.

I make it my mission to reach out to every single client and review their plan. Because you deserve someone in your corner who actually pays attention to this stuff year after year.

Annual Enrollment is coming up faster than you think. Now is a great time to get a relationship started so you’re not scrambling when it opens.

This one surprises people every single summer.

And it can become a very expensive mistake.

Original Medicare generally does NOT cover medical care outside of the United States.

So if you get sick or injured while traveling internationally, you could be paying completely out of pocket.

There are a few very limited exceptions. Things like:
• A medical emergency near the U.S. border where the closest hospital is foreign
• Certain emergencies on a cruise ship within U.S. territorial waters

But for most international travel? Medicare does not travel with you.

I was talking with someone recently who was getting ready for their first big retirement trip overseas. They had spent months planning the vacation and had no idea their Medicare coverage wouldn’t go with them.

Thankfully, we caught it before they left.

Here’s the good news:
Some Medicare Supplement plans include foreign travel emergency coverage. Some Medicare Advantage plans may as well. And travel insurance can also help protect you while abroad.

One of the best parts of my job is helping people catch these gaps before something goes wrong — not after.

Medicare and Medicaid are *not* the same thing.

And honestly? A lot of people don’t realize that until they’re trying to make important coverage decisions.

Here’s the simple breakdown:

**Medicare** is health insurance primarily for people age 65+ or certain disabilities. It’s generally based on age, not income.

**Medicaid** is based on income and financial need, and the rules can vary by state.

Some people qualify for both — and when they do, they can often get really strong coverage.

But confusing the two programs can lead to missed opportunities, unexpected costs, or delays in getting the right coverage.

One of the most common questions I hear here in Georgia is whether Medicaid can help pay Medicare costs… and for some people, the answer is absolutely yes.

That’s why understanding the difference matters.

If you’re confused about which one applies to you or someone you love, drop the word **COVERAGE** in the comments and I’ll help point you in the right direction.
