Update: Our AC has been fixed!
We truly cannot thank everyone enough for all of the help, donations, suggestions, shares, and support over the last several days. We are incredibly grateful to have a community that shows up for our shelter and our animals when we need it. ❤️
🚨 ANOTHER AC UPDATE — AND A LITTLE PLEA FOR HELP ❤️🐾
We are still actively waiting for the parts to arrive to repair our main AC unit. Unfortunately, the compressor and additional components need to be replaced, making this a very large and unexpected expense for the shelter.
Obviously, this isn't a repair we can put off. Keeping our animals safe and comfortable has to come first.
So we thought we would put this out there and simply ask — would anyone be willing to help us with this expense? ❤️
Whether someone is able to help with a larger portion or our community comes together with lots of smaller donations, every little bit could help take some of the burden of this repair off the shelter.
This situation has also highlighted a bigger issue we've dealt with for quite some time. Our current AC units struggle to adequately cool a building of this size, especially during the Texas summer. Even when everything is working, it stays very warm inside the shelter. When one of the main units goes down completely, the others simply cannot keep up.
Because of that, we have also started investigating what it would take to eventually upgrade to a larger commercial HVAC system that is better suited for our building. We are looking into options and costs now and will share more information once we have it.
If anyone would be interested in contributing toward the current repair or potentially helping us with a larger HVAC upgrade in the future, we would be incredibly grateful to hear from you.
Sometimes a big expense becomes a little more manageable when a whole community comes together. ❤️
🌟 In the meantime, our animals are safe and being cared for in the areas of the shelter that still have working AC. We are doing everything we can while we wait for repairs.
