First I'd like to tell you a little about us and our agency. My dad had rheumatic fever when he was a boy. The doctor had told him he wouldn't live a long life. He had an artificial valve put in,and back then they were in the early stages of doing them. He worked at Sealright for many many years. He made a decision to leave Sealright and start a new business of his own. He wanted to work for himself. Looking back that must of been quite a huge decision for him to make. He went away to school, and got his insurance license. In our home in Phoenix, NY he started up an office in his den. To drum up customers he went door to door. In 1968 he moved his business to Fulton, NY to our grandparents house. My grandparents moved to the house next door which my dad bought for them and renovated. He built up the business over the years and we had a couple of good insurance carriers. I started working there in 1980 and my brother Mike started the year after. My dad died in 1989. He had gone in for his third open heart operation in Rochester Minnesota. That was the one he didn't make it through. A lot of people didn't think Mike and I could manage the office by ourselves after we lost him. If you can believe this, we actually had a local agent approach Mike and I at dads funeral asking if we wanted to sell. Over the years Mike and I built the business up even more. We added many more insurance companies. We have Travelers, Main Street America, Safeco, Utica National, Progressive, Erie and Niagara, Midstate, Madison Mutual, and for our classic and antique vehicles, Hagerty and American Collectors. Our most recent added carrier is Allstate. We are very proud of being the only Allstate agent in Fulton. Our Allstate marketing representative Katie, is the best ! We have come a long way over the years. I'd like to think dad is looking down at us now and smiling.
