The Parable of the Talents: Fear, Faith, and Finances
I’ve been reading Matthew 25:14–30, and it hit me different this time.
The servant who buried his talent didn’t lack opportunity…
he lacked courage.
He said he was afraid, so instead of growing what he was given, he protected it and stayed the same.
Sound familiar?
A lot of times we say the problem is:
* lack of knowledge
* lack of discipline
* lack of unity
But what if underneath all of that… it’s really fear?
Fear of losing money
Fear of making the wrong move
Fear of stepping outside what we were taught
Fear of failing in front of others
So instead of investing, we hold.
Instead of learning, we avoid.
Instead of building, we protect what little we have.
And in doing so… we bury our “talents.”
The lesson isn’t just about money.
It’s about stewardship and responsibility.
💡 It’s not about what you were given.
💡 It’s about what you do with it.
At some point, we have to move from:
➡️ Fear → Faith
➡️ Scarcity → Growth
➡️ Survival → Stewardship
Because the real risk isn’t losing…
it’s never multiplying what you already have.
What do you think—Is fear the real root?
