t would appear that 10 hours of coding is my absolute limit, but our 2027 ACA Affordability Calculator is officially up and running!
And yes, I absolutely spent way too much time making sure this thing did more than just spit out a number. 😂
If you’re an employer trying to get ahead of your 2027 benefits strategy, this calculator will help you screen:
• Whether you may qualify as an Applicable Large Employer (ALE)
• The 2027 ACA affordability threshold of 10.22%
• Your employee contribution against the Federal Poverty Line safe harbor
• The 95% offer requirement
• Minimum Value
• Common ownership and related-company workforce issues
• Group health participation and carrier marketability
In other words, I wanted to build something that gives employers a better starting point than, “I think we’re probably okay.”
It is not a substitute for legal or tax counsel, and it is not an IRS determination. But if you’re planning for 2027, growing toward 50 employees, operating multiple companies under common ownership, or trying to figure out whether your contribution strategy is headed in the right direction, this is a pretty solid place to start.
I’m proud of this one.
Now I’m going to close Visual Studio before I convince myself to add another feature tonight. 😂
